DIY: Rustic Blanket Ladder & Shelf Tutorial
Blanket Ladder Shelf

This project was initially for a friend. She sent me a link on Pinterest and asked if it was something I could pull together. Not only did I pull it together, I recreated it for myself. That’s how you know it was a cute idea!

The inspiration for this project comes from angelamariemade.com, but, I took the idea a step further. This ladder not only leans against the wall to hold blankets, but, it also hangs on the wall as a shelf and looks adorable full of frames and knick-knacks.

I started with two 4′ pieces of this super cute grey stained chippy barnwood I had in the shop. I mitered the bottom of each piece at 75° so the ladder would lean appropriately on the wall.

I cut four 14″ pieces to use as the “rungs” and laid it out to play around with the spacing. When I decided how far apart I wanted them, I measured and marked it on both lengths.

Once I had it marked out, I was able to Clamp, Glue, and Screw in the Rungs. I flipped it over, glued and screwed on the other side, and it was all put together. I left it out on the hot patio for the afternoon so the glue could dry, and we were ready to take it for a test drive!

I love the way this piece is multi-functional. We have a plethora of blankets around here that I can fold and hang over the rungs, or, I can add it to my gallery wall for a little dimension.
